Parisian Christmas windows & shopping

I remember when we were children, my Mom would take my brothers and I out the whole day to enjoy the Christmas window displays across Paris. We would start the day on Boulevard Haussmann at le Printemps and the Galeries Lafayette (you have to go inside and see the Christmas tree under the dome: it is breathtaking). At the time, the window displays were really enchanting and aimed at children. These days, it is less interesting: usually brands now decorate the windows with their products. Of course, there is a Christmas theme (sometimes very subtle), but it is not the same anymore. When we were young we would see many other kids like us and even entire schools were coming to see the displays!  
My Mom, brothers and I would then head to the Place de la Madeleine where Fauchon used to recreate a huge and beautiful chalet on their front facade. It sadly does not exist anymore. We would then walk to Place Vendôme and end our adventure on the Champs-Élysées. 
You can still have a nice experience following the same path and why not have a nice hot chocolate or coffee at Ladurée on Place de la Madeleine or the Champs-Elysées. Another nice tearoom is Angelina on Rue de Rivoli and close to Place de la Madeleine.  I  really love its location as you can take a nice walk in the Tuileries gardens afterwards.
